Storytelling and connecting with others is at the core of my artistic practice. I have always sought out compelling narratives, sparked by my childhood pastimes. I liked catching my Saturday cartoons, sitting in the shadows of the public library, or people watching during travel. I became drawn to tales where beauty and pain are blurred, where there is unity in diversity, and where the complex and mundane coexist. No matter how fictitious a story is, I am most impacted by those still deeply connected to human experiences—especially those focused on the complexities of identity, culture, and community.
I use a variety of media to explore these themes further. My creative process is rooted in intentionality; I approach each project with research, collaboration, and dialogue to ensure that every portrayal I make is authentic and respectful. Much of my work examines the fluidity of identity—how people embody multiple cultural influences in ways that defy rigid expectations.
An integral part of my aesthetic comes from reflecting on food, fashion, and community traditions. These activities serve as entry points for deeper conversations about diversity and inclusion. My art seeks to honor culture as a living entity—one that evolves through exchange and shared experiences rather than remaining static or confined by borders. I strive to raise questions about identity, belonging, and representation while fostering understanding across divides. I want viewers to leave my work not just with appreciation but with curiosity, and a desire to look closer or think deeper about the stories we tell ourselves and each other.
My process is always in one way or another, a collaborative effort. Often, the product is a labor of love. I dedicate myself to stretching canvases, inking pages, staring at screens, and pouring hours into meticulous details. This would not be done without the sound of music cruising through the streets, the fresh warm meals offered with thick accents, alleyways adorned with colorful graffiti, the squeal of public transit to welcome me, laughter that is young and old—community is what keeps me going, and my work is a love letter to them. These are the stories that allow me to do what I do.
I hope I get to share your story too.
